Chair’s Remarks:

Hello from Victoria Li!

2019 marks the seventh year of APAPA Austin Chapter (ATC)!  With everyone’s leadership and especially Alice’s hard work, the Chapter has grown to be an exemplary Chapter in the summer internship program and voter registration!  We want to thank all of you, and our sister Organizations: Salt&Light (Barbara Chia), Austin Chinese American Network (Peter Chao), and of course, the Network of Asian American Organizations (Gopal Guthikonda) who all work closely with us.  Without you, none of the success is possible!

In FY2017 (9/1/2016 – 8/31/2017), on voter’s registration, we had reached out to over 2,000 Austin residents, we had 21 diverse summer interns placed with elected offices, provided voter’s education to more than an audience of 1,500 mainly from the API community, and through civic leadership forums, we have gained local main stream attention. We also started systematized partnerships with local API organizations. We’ve provided various community services regarding communication of local government policies and Asian community feedback.

For the coming year, we will continue our stellar voter registration program, expand our summer internship program to be even more inclusive of the various API communities and more interaction with our local community at large.

We’ve also had successful fundraising efforts throughout the year.  We want to thank all our friends who donated to our chapter, with a huge shout out to the VNA Foundation, the CLF Foundation, the APIA-VOTE, McDonald’s and Amherst. Your sponsorship supports our core programs and we look forward to working with you all in 2018!
