Last week, APAPA – Silicon Valley Chapter (APAPA – SVC) participated in a “Rock the Vote” one-week voter registration program with a goal to inspire, engage and encourage high school students to vote. Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD) board of trustee and the student leadership clubs from Monta Vista High School, Lybrook High School, Cupertino High School and Homestead High School all formed committees to encourage voter registration.

Prior to the “Rock the Vote” week, students attended a voter registration training hosted by APAPA – SVC. During the school lunch hour from Monday, April 23rd to Friday, April 27th, and with the help and guidance from APAPA – SVC, each school committee helped their peers pre-register and register to vote, resulting in over 200 newly registered voters.

On the final day of registration week, all volunteers and the FUHSD board of trustee, along with Tom Pyke, representing Congressman Ro Khanna’s office, Don Sun of APAPA – SVC who also organized the event, Hung Wei, representing the school district and Hsing Kung of both APAPA and CLUSA, delivered speeches to students while they celebrated their success.

Congratulations to APAPA – SVC, CLUSA, all the mentors and leadership and, most importantly, all the high schools who participated in this great success encouraging our next generation to become civically engaged and registered to vote.

Your vote counts and your vote matters!
