Sacramento, CA – Yesterday evening, October 25, the Sacramento County District Attorney Candidates’ Forum, was held by Asian Resources Inc. (ARI), the OCA Sacramento Chapter – Asian Pacific American Advocates
, the Council of Asian Pacific Islanders Together for Advocacy and Leadership (CAPITAL), and Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs (APAPA), a coalition of non-profit organizations.
The town hall was hosted to engage the community on important issues facing our diverse communities. Topics of discussion included hate crimes, accountability, prosecutorial policies, community programs, and how to address social injustice and cultural inequities.
This virtual forum was a live broadcast and featured two candidates for Sacramento County District Attorney, a pivotal and influential position which will now be open on June’s primary ballot. Current candidates are Alana Mathews and Thein Ho, one of whom will replace current Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert.
The forum was moderated by former TV news reporter Lonnie Wong. Each candidate was provided an opportunity to provide an opening and closing statement with remarks and responded to questions. The purpose of the townhall was to engage our diverse communities to actively participate in civic leadership, and to make sure our voices matter in these important upcoming elections.
